The Karnataka Common Entrance Test, conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), is the main route into government-quota seats in Karnataka's engineering, pharmacy, agriculture and allied courses. It tests Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology at the 10+2 level. If you are a Karnataka-domicile student targeting an affordable seat in a good engineering or pharmacy college, KCET is the exam to prepare for.
NEET — for medical and allied health
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is mandatory for MBBS and BDS admissions across India, including every medical college in Bangalore. For allied health courses such as BSc Nursing, requirements differ from college to college — many private nursing colleges in Karnataka admit students based on 10+2 marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology rather than NEET. COMEDK — the private engineering consortium
